Summary: Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Engineering; 5+ years of experience in the steel industry and have broad knowledge of steel fabrication processes; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to speak Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred but not required.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form such as engineering prints and deal with several abstract and concrete variables such as when enforcing company policy within union guidelines or engaging in problem solving for fabrication processes.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work with people to improve performance and meet standards required. Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs. Experience with CAD programs with preference for CREO.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for typical locomotion, sometimes over an irregular surface and talk or hear while communicating with subordinates or managers.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in order to read, determine quality of work in process and for observance of safe procedures in Fabrication shop.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions in the Paint shop, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat from welding and cutting equipment, risk of electrical shock, and risk of ultra-violet radiation from welding arc. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
